I am so grateful to Steve and Tammy for their completely above-board and true private cremation services.  After having previously dealt with the 2 Victoria crematoriums operating deceptively, I wondered if there was such a facility and I am so relieved to have found it. Our amazing Nigel was perfectly normal, only 9, walked on me on the couch, put his little hands (polydactyl) on my daughter’s leg to jump up and fell over. I’m grateful for the 9 years we had. He was a rescue and almost died twice. Love & prayer saved him. I couldn’t save him this time. He was absolutely my soulmate, the biggest cuddler, so smart & playful. Also this biggest brat who got yelled at the most. lol I’m grateful he was at home, and I’m grateful that it was fast. Tammy was amazing. She is definitely in the right place. I’d love to go back and talk to her more, but hopefully I don’t have to. I love the way they keep track of absolutely everything to make sure you’re getting your baby back. If you are wanting to be sure you receive your pet's (and ONLY your pet's) ashes back, I highly recommend Tammy and Steve at Vancouver Island Animal Crematorium. I knew from my first phone call with Tammy that this was the right choice for me. I did not get a good vibe from the other local options and I wanted to be able to watch the cremation, rather than pick up my cat's ashes later. Tammy walked me through some of the practical aspects since I would be driving for several hours to get there. Their facility is located on their property in a semi-rural area. The interior was very clean and there was no smell (this was something I had wondered about). They take great care to ensure that you receive only your pet's ashes (for individual cremations). They have cameras so that if you are not able to stay to watch the cremation, but you want additional confirmation that the ashes you receive are your pet's, you can ask to view the footage. The result of the cremation is a clean skeleton. After viewing this, I decided not to have the bones processed further in the cremulator, which is what turns the bones into the type of ashes we are more familiar with. I appreciated being able to have this option. They have a selection of urns at very reasonable prices, or you can bring your own. They can also do paw print impressions if you have not already done this yourself. Tammy and Steve are some of the kindest people I've met. We had great conversations about all kinds of topics and they helped take my mind off of the emotional aspect of it. When I left it felt more like I was leaving old friends than a service provider. I am very grateful for their kindness, empathy, humour, and professionalism. I also work in a death-adjacent industry and hope to leave my clients feeling as comfortable as Tammy and Steve made me feel. I really appreciate their job! They should be proud of the level of care they are providing! I was really upset with this whole situation. I couldn't trust anyone who works in the vet industry or the crematorium which works with the vet. I left voice messages at the original crematorium but they never called me back. The vet said the crematorium is short on staff so we have to wait for two weeks if we want to see the cremation (the funny thing is they told my friends the same thing when they lost their pet). I got more anxious because I had lost my dog before, but I wasn't sure I got my actual dog's ashes back. So I ended up looking for myself and I found Vancouver Island Animal Crematorium. After meeting Steve and Tammy, I knew I could trust them to work conscientiously and with their hearts. They truly understand how much pain people go through during this process. After they walked me through their process, I 100% trusted them, and I believed they will handle this process truthfully and respectfully. If you are looking for a cremation option that is 100% trustworthy, look no further. This option was perfect for me. After making the difficult decision to have my dog cremated, I was told by the clinic that I would have to wait two weeks if I wanted to attend a viewing of the cremation. I couldn’t let my dog stay alone for two weeks, so I immediately looked for other options. After reading about Vancouver Island Animal Crematorium, I had a good feeling about this place. I received more than I expected from Steve and Tammy. They walked me through the entire process and showed me how they guarantee that it is my pet being cremated respectfully and individually (if that is the option you choose). They earned 100% of my trust as they explained their process. They truly care about doing things right and are very understanding of how difficult this experience is for someone going through it. Tammy provided such an exceptional and compassionate services and care for my deceased cat Dakota during my difficult time of loss. The quality of the after life care products are top-notched. My sweet boy Bentley unexpectedly had to be put to rest from heart failure and 14.5 years with him by my side I was devastated. The decision to leave him with the vet or take him here was a no brainer. Tammy answered my call late in the day as we were saying our final goodbyes and stayed open after hours to allow us the time to drive up and drop him off. She did not rush us out the door when we arrived, allowed us to look in the showroom at urns, and put me at ease knowing I had made the right decision leaving him in her hands for his final stages.
